CHILDREN’S DAY…Celebrate it objectively

Today is the children’s day…..ll be celebrated More as Jawaharlal Nehru Birthday and less as Children’s day
Well, there is no coherent evidence available, as what contribution Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru has done to the children of the India
I still find it ridicules to celebrate his Birthday and carry his legacy...It simply makes no sense.
In India we need to have a comprehensive and clear charter regarding child welfare.
If at all someday has to be celebrated as a children’s day , it has to be celebrated purely as day for children and observed to promote the objectives outlined in the Charter and for the welfare of children.
Today’s children are worst hit by poverty and malnutrition. According to UNICEF, one in three malnourished children worldwide are found in India. It also reveals other startling truths. While 42 percent of children under five years of age, are underweight, 58 per cent of children under five surveyed are stunted.
What does this children’s day celebrations mean when these children are deprived of food and basic necessities? Will these children ever see a better tomorrow?
There will be a lot of expenditure done in the name of the olden days poster boy Jawaharlal Nehru's B’day by Union Government….it just serves the purpose to bring the people under GANDHI-NEHRU legacy.
Lot of children welfare programs too, will be announced, but all will be put in to cold storage, in course of time.
We must have a clear vision about the children of India. They are the future of our country. Giving them a brilliant life, what they have already earned from all of us, even before they come to this world, should be our vision with paramount importance.
By no means, we can afford to deprive them from their right to live gracefully, Right to School, Right to food.
This is the duty for every individual to take the self cognizance and actuate oneself to contribute to give every child a Safe Start, a permanent nurturing family and community. We should work in collaboration with other national, state and local  organizations to promote policies and promising systemic and programmatic approaches that strengthen and support children and families, prevent crises from occurring, and help ensure children safe, permanent families.
This can be the real celebrations for children, by their countrymen. Let’s give their Due.

Happy Children’s Day
